The term “swatting” refers to the act of falsely reporting an emergency, typically a violent crime, to prompt a heavy law enforcement response to a specific location. In an effort to address the growing issue of homelessness in the area, two Canandaigua-based organizations are joining forces to establish an emergency shelter for families. The shelter, set to be located in the historic Cobblestone Manor at 495 N. Main St., was approved for a special-use permit by the city Planning Commission on November 8.
