According to our partners at the Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire, Throop, Auburn, Montezuma, Sennett, Port Byron, Aurelius, Owaco Fire, Jordan RIT and Auburn Ambulance were called to Powers Road near Turnpike Road for a fully-involved structure fire. The New York State Thruway Authority celebrates a significant milestone in its extensive $450 million service area redevelopment initiative with the reopening of the Port Byron Service Area in Cayuga County. Closed since March 2023 for renovations, the rest stop, situated between exits 41 (Waterloo) and 40 (Weedsport) on Interstate 90 east, now features modern amenities including Burger King and Dunkin’ restaurants, an Applegreen convenience store, a dog walking area, and a private nursing space. ORANGE GAME DAY: Syracuse visits NC State, looking for bounce-back win
The Syracuse basketball team will try to get back in the win column tonight when they visit North Carolina State at the PNC Arena for a 7 p.m. tipoff. The Orange (16-10, 7-8 ACC) are coming off a 65-60 road loss to Georgia Tech last Saturday and have dropped two of the past three games. The Wolfpack (16-9, 8-6 ACC) picked up a 78-77 victory over Clemson this past Saturday but has also lost two of the last three games.
