DEBUTING TODAY: In a matter of hours the FingerLakes1.com team will launch a new daily show aimed at the entire community. GROWTH IN LYONS: Construction is underway for a new Dunkin’ Donuts on a vacant lot next to Kwik Fill on Route 31 in Lyons. Cranes were out preparing the land Monday. Town Supervisor Jim Brady took a drive with FingerLakes1.com to showcase all the new things happening around town, and Dunkin’ is just one of several projects in the works. “It’s kind of exciting,” Brady said. “We have a Quicklee Mobile Station doing a million-dollar renovation and the word is that a Kentucky Fried Chicken or a Taco Bell drive through and restaurant is going in there. ITHACA CRIME WOES: The president of the union representing cops within the Ithaca Police Department says violent crime in the city and a staffing crisis have combined to create an emergency situation. He called the combination of issues ‘critical’ and said that attempts by groups like the Ithaca PBA to get city officials to address staffing have fallen flat. Despite the attempts of the PBA to shed light on the issues surrounding staffing and violent crime, City Hall has remained mostly silent and has offered no real solutions even in the wake of the recent stabbing murder that occurred just blocks from the Ithaca Commons, a press release from the Ithaca PBA said.
