First up, we have huge news in the village of Wolcott — where voters overwhelmingly rejected dissolution. The final count was 317-67, which means the proposal will not move forward in any capacity. [READ MORE]
Next up we have a letter from Seneca County Sheriff Tim Thompson after a recent arrest. The letter follows the arrest of Ron E. Poore, a 40-year-old man from Maine, in connection with a series of robberies in the Town of Tyre. Poore was charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors related to the incidents on March 9 and 10. Despite the severity of the charges, Poore was released on his own recognizance due to bail reform laws, according to the sheriff. [READ MORE]

Staying in Seneca County — Waterloo has identified what projects its targeting for the Village’s $10 million DRI grant. There are 13 transformative projects identified that involve downtown or connecting the village’s canal access. [READ MORE]
Senior and older-adult groups are frustrated by cuts to services in New York’s budget proposal. This includes cuts to home-care programs and the Long-Term Care Ombudsman program. It comes a year after Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the state’s Master Plan for Aging, a legislative framework to help New York seniors age in place. [READ MORE]
And finally, the state Education Department is currently examining an appeal from the mother of a student involved in an alleged football hazing incident at Clyde-Savannah School last fall. This follows the department’s rejection of a similar appeal by another parent involved in the case. ORANGE GAME DAY: Syracuse takes on NC State in second round of ACC Tournament
The ACC Tournament is here, and Syracuse (20-11, 11-9 ACC) is set to take on NC State (18-14, 10-11 ACC) in the second round tonight at Capital One Arena, with tipoff set for 7 p.m. Syracuse, who had a first-round bye, won four of five to close the regular season but most recently fell 90-75 at Clemson on March 5.
