Wayne County eyes full-time election commissioners after Election Day issues
Wayne County’s Board of Elections faced significant technical difficulties on Election Night, causing a delay in the announcement of results for various contested races. This issue, which left candidates and the public in suspense, was attributed to malfunctioning early voting machines in Ontario and Lyons, eventually traced back to faulty flash drives. The problem was fixed Wednesday morning, allowing the votes to be tabulated and the results finally released. However, delay prompted a flurry of complaints to County Administrator Rick House and local supervisors, as well as party leaders, who were unable to provide immediate explanations for the delay.
Syracuse storms back from 24-point deficit to beat Colgate, improve to 3-0
It looked as if Syracuse was going to suffer its first loss of the season when they trailed by 24 points early in the second half, but that was not the case as the Orange came storming back, outscoring Colgate 49-29 over the final 20 minutes to secure a 79-75 victory on Tuesday night at the JMA Wireless Dome. Chris Bell led the way for Cuse with a career-high 25 points. Judah Mintz netted 23 points, 11 of which came from the free-throw line. Mintz has recorded 20 or more points in each of the first three games this season. JJ Starling finished in double figures as well, adding 13 points.
Geneva City Council race in Ward 6 remains tied: How will a winner be determined?
The race for Geneva’s Ward 6 City Council seat remains at a standstill, with no clear winner emerging between Republican candidate Kyle Brimm and Democrat Scott Bowes. The deadlock in Ward 6 has led to a dispute among the city’s political parties over the method to be used for determining the winner. The Democratic party advocates for the decision to be made by a coin flip, while the Republican party suggests that the winner should be appointed by a City Council majority. With the Republicans holding the majority of seats on the Council, this method could potentially lead to the selection of Brimm.

Thousands of licenses could be suspended after Thanksgiving if vision tests aren’t completed: Why?
When renewing a driver’s license in New York State, passing a vision test remains a mandatory requirement. Despite it being paused during the pandemic lockdown, thousands of licenses are set to be suspended the day after Thanksgiving if action isn’t taken soon. To facilitate this process without visiting the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the state offers several methods for submitting vision test results. Firstly, individuals can visit a DMV office to complete the test. Alternatively, they can use an approved provider who will directly send the test results to the DMV.
