We start today with news out of Cayuga County that the Cayuga Nation has successfully moved around $2.5 million worth of land into federal trust. This is a major success for the Nation, which follows a nearly 20 year fight to have its land into trust application approved by the BIA. [Read More]
Auction Direct USA, a used car dealership, is set to permanently close its Victor location on March 19, as per the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filed with the New York State Department of Labor. The closure of the Victor facility will result in the layoff of 57 employees. [Read More]
Motorists using the Thruway will see a rise in toll prices beginning January 1, 2024, as announced by the Thruway Authority. This adjustment marks the first increase in toll prices on the Thruway in 14 years. Specifically, the toll for the stretch from Geneva to Rochester will increase from the 2023 rate of $1.07 to $1.12 at the beginning of the new year, indicating a 5% rise. The increase is part of a planned series of adjustments to Thruway toll rates. [Read More]
Governor Kathy Hochul has signed two significant pieces of legislation designed to address the rising costs of prescription drugs. The first introduces stricter transparency measures for prescription drug pricing, requiring manufacturers to report any proposed wholesale price increases to the New York State Department of Financial Services. The second, broadens the scope of medications that pharmacists can administer, particularly for mental health and substance use disorders. [Read More]

The Bath Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 7581 County Route 13 at around 10:37 p.m. on Monday, December 25, following a report by a passerby of a fully involved structure fire. Fortunately, all residents of the home, alerted to the fire by their dogs’ barking, had safely evacuated by the time of his arrival. [Read More]
