Canandaigua dog attack case delayed until Jan. 29 due to judge’s retirement
The cases against two Canandaigua residents charged in an August dog attack that injured a father and son have been postponed until January 29. The delay comes as City Court Judge Jacqueline Sisson prepares to retire, leaving her successor to handle pretrial motions and hearings.

One person was airlifted from the scene of a scary crash on the New York State Thruway during rush hour on Tuesday. According to our partners at the Cayuga-Seneca Fire Wire, the single car crash happened around 5:15 p.m. and required one person to be airlifted to a regional trauma center. It happened around mile marker 315 in the westbound lanes in Cayuga County. [Read More]
The Wayne Central School District says students will be learning remotely after a fire at the middle school over the weekend. The second floor of the Wayne Middle School suffered significant damage after a fire was noticed by a custodian over the weekend. The fire was brought under control before it damaged more of the building, but families were told students wouldn’t return to the classroom until next week. [Read More]
A Himrod man faces multiple charges after leading police on a high-speed chase through Penn Yan. Officers reported observing 25-year-old Kalob Murphy driving erratically near Liberty and Elm streets, nearly striking another vehicle. Murphy then accelerated to 76 mph in a 30 mph zone, prompting police to activate their emergency lights. [Read More]
