The New York State Department of Labor released its preliminary local area unemployment rates for July 2023, revealing a steady state unemployment rate of 3.9%. Young child airlifted from crash after tractor-trailer collides with car in Yates County
An accident involving a tractor-trailer and a car on State Route 14, near State Route 54, resulted in two children suffering non-life-threatening injuries on Tuesday. Following the crash, one child was airlifted to Strong, while the other also received medical attention. The segment of State Route 14 between State Route 54 and Swartout Road remained closed for over three hours.
No exact date yet, but Clyde Dollar General is getting closer to reopening
A lightning-induced fire on June 27 forced Dollar General on Wayne Avenue to shut its doors, leaving Clyde residents without a major food source for over two months. The establishment’s reopening has been hampered by delayed electrical service restoration, which only resumed on Monday. The Finger Lakes Times reports a communication breakdown between the village and New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) regarding the store’s safety inspection caused the extended closure. While village officials stated the inspection was completed a month ago, NYSEG was unaware due to apparently missing paperwork.
