Cayuga Nation Sues Town of Fayette Over Illegal Tobacco and Marijuana Retail Operation
The Cayuga Nation has filed a lawsuit against the Town of Fayette and the operators of Auntie’s Grab ‘N Go, alleging the town’s failure to enforce local codes against an illegal retail operation. The lawsuit, filed on August 27, 2024, in Seneca County Supreme Court, seeks to halt the operation of an unlicensed tobacco and marijuana business at 3136 Seybolt Road.

ANNUAL SENECA LAKE MEETING: The Seneca Lake Pure Waters Association is set to hold its 2024 Annual Meeting on Thursday, September 12, at Climbing Bines Hop Farm and Brewery in Penn Yan, New York. The event, which runs from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM, will celebrate the organization’s achievements over the past year and honor the volunteers who have been vital in protecting the health and quality of Seneca Lake.
LIFE-SAVING HONOR: In recognition of her quick-thinking and bravery, Wendy Boyer, a teacher aide at the Marcus Whitman Central School District, will be honored with the New York State Senate Liberty Medal on Thursday, August 29. The prestigious award, the highest civilian honor bestowed by the New York State Senate, is reserved for individuals who have performed exceptional, heroic, or humanitarian acts.
INCIDENT AT HIGH SCHOOL: A Freeville man faces charges after being found in possession of methamphetamine early on August 16 at Southern Cayuga High School. The Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies discovered Micah E. Pado, 33, inside a clothing donation shed on the school’s property around 3:45 a.m.
