INSIDE THE FLX: Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo says education is evolving and county districts are likely in the future.
After nearly two decades in the Auburn Enlarged City School District, Superintendent Jeff Pirozzolo will retire in January. The announcement came earlier this month at a board of education meeting, in which he said it was time for new leadership. On Tuesday, Pirozzolo was in-studio, reflecting on a lengthy career in education, and the work ahead to guide the district through this transitional period.
Cayuga County is moving aggressively to address roof damage and an aging office building in the coming months. Aileen McNabb-Coleman says the county is facing a crisis, though, with regard to first responder services. In the ongoing legal dispute between Steuben County Sheriff James Allard and the County Legislature, county attorneys have filed an appeal against a court decision allowing the sheriff’s lawyers to depose a legislator. This development stems from a conflict that began last fall, when the legislature sought to revoke Sheriff Allard’s legal indemnification and stop funding his liability insurance. [Read More]
And finally, a home in Bristol was destroyed on Tuesday, as first responders from around the county responded to the scene. The home, which was located on Tall Oak Drive in Bristol was left in ruins, after a fire was reported there during the afternoon. An apparent issue with tanker trucks meant first responders couldn’t mitigate the fire as quickly as originally hoped. [Read More]
