The owners of the historic Penn Yan Diner have started a GoFundMe campaign following a devastating fire on May 21 that heavily damaged the beloved diner. The Penn Yan Diner, one of the few remaining operational Dining Cars in the United States, has been a community cornerstone for nearly 100 years.

Convicted murderer Joshua Horein was denied parole after a hearing before the New York State Parole Board at Fishkill Correctional Facility, according to a press release from the Schuyler County District Attorney’s Office. Horein, who murdered 15-year-old Amber Brockway in Watkins Glen on August 5, 2000, was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison in 2001. [Read More]
Mosaic Health announced it will close its dental offices in Lyons and Mt. Morris due to funding changes and a national shortage of dentists. The offices will remain open for up to 90 days, depending on staff availability and regulatory processes. [Read More]

Wayne County sergeant retires after 23 years of service
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office recently bid farewell to Sergeant Larry Lindner, who retired after 23 years of dedicated service. Lindner began his career as a Deputy Sheriff in 2001 and was promoted to Sergeant in 2017. His last day on the job was Wednesday, May 29.
