UR Medicine delays some surgeries due to IV fluid shortage after Hurricane Helene
Effective immediately UR Medicine hospitals will postpone some elective and semi-elective surgeries due to a national shortage of IV sterile fluids following Hurricane Helene. While shipments have resumed, supply remains lower than needed.

WellNow Urgent Care and Excellus Blue Cross Blue Shield have resumed negotiations after failing to reach a contract agreement at the start of 2024, spokespeople for both parties confirmed. The disagreement left WellNow out-of-network for Excellus members, forcing patients to pay higher out-of-network costs for services at the urgent care chain. [Read More]
The union representing Seneca County sheriff’s deputies has started negotiations with the county for a new labor contract set to begin on Jan. 1. The current three-year agreement with the PBA expires on Dec. 31. [Read More]
A Cayuga County Court judge has ordered DeAnna R. Taylor, a former Auburn travel agent, to pay restitution after stealing approximately $22,000 from clients. Taylor, 64, was placed on one year of interim probation for first-degree scheme to defraud, a class E felony. [Read More]
The DEC will continue its lampricide treatments to control parasitic sea lampreys at Catharine Creek Canal and the Dresden Delta. The treatments, set for Wednesday and Thursday, are weather-dependent and will target areas not treated earlier this year. [Read More]
