Cayuga County responded quickly to damage at their office building caused by high winds Tuesday night. The Genesee Street building suffered significant damage to roughly half of its roof, with materials being torn away and debris blocking access. Cayuga County Legislature Chair Aileen McNabb-Coleman confirmed that the wind had lifted part of the roof’s perimeter, leading to water intrusion in the legislative chambers and a caucus room. Wayne County is poised to transform its electoral operations by converting part-time election commissioner roles into full-time positions. At the recent Seneca County Board of Supervisors meeting, local residents strongly voiced their opposition to the proposed expansion of the Seneca Meadows landfill. Despite the issue not being on the meeting’s agenda, eight speakers urged the board to oppose the landfill’s expansion. Board Chair Mike Enslow reiterated that the matter is a decision for the town of Seneca Falls, not the county board, as they currently have no proposal seeking their support for the landfill. The ongoing dispute between WellNow Urgent Care and Excellus Health Insurance, affecting patient coverage and costs, is a more common scenario than many realize. And finally, Robert Banzer, the interim Superintendent of Schools for Waterloo, will be compensated at a rate of $750 for each full work day, as recently revealed following a FOIL request by the Finger Lakes Times. They initiated the request leading to the release of these salary details. Initially, when Banzer’s appointment was announced in December, the Board of Education President Wendy DiSanto did not disclose his salary, citing confidentiality of employment contract terms.
